I guess quarantine is over.
I went back to work today. At my office. There were… maybe a dozen people there? At least I was away from home for a while.
I guess this is the end of this? Things are going back to “normal.” Whatever that means anymore. Memorial Day weekend had many people out doing things everywhere, so cases will probably start going up again.
Of course, I’m not doing much better myself. As I said, I went to the office this morning. And Becky and I went out for dinner Friday night.
We were careful. We went to the Paradise Grill up on the corner because they have a patio. We waited for an outside table and ate there, and the restaurant was doing an excellent job of cleaning everything.
The food wasn’t very good, though. I had forgotten why we don’t eat at the Mexican side of their restaurant.
I’ll be honest; it was nice to get something other than what we’ve been cooking at home for the past three months. I am so tired of steak and roasted vegetables.
Maybe things will finally start clearing up. Maybe.
Of course, now other things are getting worse. We’ve had several recent cases where unarmed black people have been shot and killed by police. It seems that enough people have finally gotten tired of it. There are a lot of protests and some rioting going on all over the country.
It seems a bad idea to be in a crowd of people protesting in the middle of a pandemic, but… I get it.
And it looks like a lot of people may finally be “getting it.” There was a group of protesters on the corner when we went out for dinner, and they seemed to be getting support from most of the drivers passing. And we’re in a very conservative part of the county. Maybe something will happen for good this time.
Not that I can do anything. Becky, and all of her family, are opposed to the protests. So I’m not going to say anything. Her son is warning about needing to get guns before “things get really bad.” I’m not sure what he’s expecting.
I don’t know what to expect any more. It seems like this year keeps getting worse. Did all this only start in March?
Well, it’s June now. Let’s see what happens next.
