So… It’s NaNoWriMo time again…

I’m trying to decide what to do with NaNoWriMo this year. I have several ideas in my head, but I’ve been (unsuccessfully) working on them for a few years. Maybe I need something new.

There’s always The Log of the Grayswandir, which has been my go-to writing for a while, but I have been majorly stuck on a rewrite of one sequence for almost a year now. I hate being stuck, but I also think I need to do something else for a while.

I also need to, someday, get back to the my Cthulhu story at some point, but again, I bogged down on one scene, had introduced what is an overpowered character, and hadn’t figured out how to write myself out of it. So again, I need to deal with it, but… not now.

I’ve had a few other ideas floating around. I worked on Portals a few years ago and never finished. I’d like to, but I again wrote myself into a position from which I couldn’t see a way forward.

Sometimes being a Pantser doesn’t work out.

I actually finished Wrong Exit, but it badly needs an edit pass. But that isn’t NaNoWriMo.

I have this idea in my head of something called “The Road,” A pathway that, if found, allows you to walk between realities. I wrote a short story introducing it once. I’ve started on a novel set there a couple of times but have never even posted the first chapter online. (Which I guess I should?) Again, I have an idea; I know how it begins and ends. I just can’t come up with anything for the middle.

Two years ago, I tried writing a “slice-of-life” romance. I can’t write romance.

Last year I came up with a new setting that I wanted to try. I got a way in, but… well, anyone reading this blog knows how my life has been for the last few years. I kinda got started, first as Camp, then tried to continue in November, but I couldn’t focus.

I could go back to it, but I want to try something new.

So, I’m signing up for NaNoWriMo again. Let’s see how this goes.
